~The 'Spider' Wand~

This delightful Rowan wand measures approx 10 1/2" (26.5cm) in length with a thickness of 5/8" (1.5cm) at its widest point. This wand has unusual markings with a pale cram base and the flashes of chestnut, ebony and cinnamon along its entire length. These marking have occurred where the wood has been exposed to the elements over time, seasoning the wood to make these amazing colours! Onto the Hilt I have pyrographed a Spider Goddess design with her arms held aloft pointing towards a Crescent Moon and a Spider Web as her backdrop. On her belly is a Spiral design and beneath her is a tiny Spider!
There are many Spider Goddesses throughout many cultures with Arachne, the Greek Goddess being the most famous. There is also Neith known as 'The Terrifying one' who was an Egyptian Goddess of Fate, War and Love, The Grandmother Spider of the Native Americans who was believed to have woven Life into existence and was full of Wisdom and Healing Magic and Uttu a Sumerian Goddess. Spiders are known for their silken web, stronger than spun steel and their Knowledge, Creativity and Inspiration!
